Icarus
By: Linda Martinez Robertson
Mirror this world. Sea,
pond, stream. One tear
in a blue eye. Indigo
bunting breast. A saint's
silk sheath. Shadow
at dawn.
You, the living. Among
leaves and coins. Insatiable
stars. A puzzle off the wall.
Near your center:
thrummed with red.
A fist. A circle. An
apple, sweet to core.
Dark boy. You,
the living.
Rising.
